Why should Americans have a national health care system?

Ignacio Imbier: Consistency, regulation, equality, it would decrease unnecessary malpractice suits, would give us better quality care because it would be a federal mandate instead of mandated by greed. It would become for the people and by the people and not for the rich people by the rich people.

Bernie Cerra: Because we can.Governments are generally responsible for the health and welfare of it's citizens, and health-care is no less important than providing water and sewer services. An industry that feeds extraordinarily off the misfortunes (i.e., illness and injuries) of it's citizens is inherently aberrant. Where the degree of treatment is determined solely by ones ability to pay is wrong on so many levels....Show more

Alane Antes: How about a world wide health care system. If you support a national system then just follow the next logical step to see where that road will lead you.

Imogene Neiswander: Our current health care system is a mess. Costs! increase annually, benefits decline, and service from the private corporations who control your policy, sucks.I think everyone should have to pay something for their health care and work out a payment process if necessary, but there must be a radical change from the current mess we're stuck with....Show more

Miguel Densley: I think the government should let us choose our own health care; insurance and doctors. Why should UNCLE SAM spend trillions of dollars of the tax payers money to create a bigger mess that will not work anyway. Canada and the U.K. have that kind of system and it is failing. Longer waits for tests and surgeries for patients and !@#$$%^& health care for their citizens. Some of whom come her with cancers and severe heart conditions that would have killed them in their own country. Should I tell more....Show more

Anton Waln: Are others more deserving to be treated for sickness because of what they have? People tend to forget that EVERY ONE has b! een paying for some form of medical service from the day they ! start working. It's just people that are filled with greed and arrogance that want to give substandard care or none at all if they could.Oh and most people are treated as numbers as it is anyway, so why not put it in writing?
