What kind of entertainment did people have in the jazz age?

Gertrude Darke: sorry,I only know ice-age!...and iron age,and copper age...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz ) x

Rheba Cockman: Liberalism approach stretching the obstacles. It is tightly correlated with innovation and creativity. This is why you meet extra liberals amongst marginal companies of society. Conservatives are much more likely to stay within the core. If you are taking a appear at usual distribution curve (records), conservatives most of the time are unfold inside +/- one normal deviation whilst liberals are leaning closer to marginal companies, each, optimistic and bad. It additionally implies that liberals drives the growth and takes dangers. Sometimes they win, many times they lose....Show more

Barrett Felicia: I would get the album called Jazz at Massey Hall. The artist name on the CD is called The Quintet. It might be filed under Parker's name, or it could be in the "various" category. Ask at the help desk. Its a famous CD, they probably will have it somewhere! .They will probably also have Charlie Parker With Strings too. That's a good album.PS-The Dial suggestion is a good one, but they might not have it in the crappy jazz collection at Borders. Also, the sound quality is not so great with the Dial recordings, if you are used to modern sound quality, you might be disappointed with the sound quality, but if you can get over the bad sound, you will be able to appreciate the amazing playing of those sessions....Show more

Antonia Quinnett: The Musicians in this work are Awesome. Charlie Parker's work with Oscar Peterson may be easier to locate.* Charlie Parker - The Verve Years 1952-1954 (Verve VE2 2523)

Ronny Nowzari: I would choose "The Complete Savoy and Dial Master Takes". Long title, and it spreads over a few CDs, but a great compilation of his stuff.

Tracy Huesso: i'm a sax player and the mouth piece just takes some getting use to, i know someone who switched from clarinet to sax and now she's doing great,! the reading/notes and the same it's just the fingeringsfor tr! umpet, well practice a lot and learn common riffs and rhythms. earthier one would take tons of dedication at least an hour everydayhope that helps...Show more

Dana Russian: They would have still been playing parlour games ~ things like 'Sardines'. Some parties would have had a small jazz band. It depends what part of the 1920's. The early 20's were just after the devistation of the First World War, so people were looking for more 'fun' in their lives. British women over 30 now had the right to vote, and new freedoms....Show more

Peter Lapoint: It depends on whether your party goers were drinkers or tee-totalers, as this was the midst of Prohibition. If it's a party with alcohol, then it must be indoors, and very private, perhaps at a private club with heavy security. A small band, radio or piano would provide music for dancing, and the food would be provided by the host's cook. The risk of being caught with bootlegged alcoholic beverages kept such parties qui! et and low-key.However, if the party did not serve alcohol, it could be held at a public hall or outdoors. The food could be catered and a larger band hired for dancing music. There was no television, videos, home-movies, computers or electronic games. People played board games, group games, and card games, listened to the radio, talked, used the telephone and wrote letters (no email or text messaging!). Women spent a lot more time cooking and cleaning. Children learned to ballroom dance at school as a normal social activity. People read books! The pace of life was much slower; think of the things you do when you have a lengthy power outage, and that's the scope of entertainment available in the jazz age....Show more

Renato Abatiell: We studied this two. Dancing and listening to the radio were two big forms of entertainment.

Lyndon Mattas: listen to a song called free jazz and find out...

Donovan Stallons: personally, id suggest trumpet. because i a! m a trumpet playter. it would be a lot of work, but if you are dedicate! d, then being able to play brass and wind will help you A LOT in the future. clarinet is already a jazzy instrument, and if you can switch between the two on the band stand then you are a more valued performer

Jacques Teri: Well, you would need a jazz band or records. You would definitely need a punch bowl and finger food, little sandwiches or little pieces of bakery. During the party, you can have dance contests, games where you switch dance partners, have the ladies ask a guy for a dance, things like that.

Jannie Ariola: Nope

Alvaro Oare: I listen to it almost every day.

Lashawn Zabarkes: Jazz

Raleigh Lufkin: bootleg gin

Lon Pennington: One legged race in the backyard. Jazzy ring around the mulberry bush. The sexiest guy dressed as a woman. A fashion show of party couples. Apple bobbing. Round Robbin card games like Crib. And, in my Grandfathers and Grandmother house, strip poker down to the under-ware in the back room downstairs.

Antone Youla: I have been playing clarinet for about 5 years, and I wan to start a new instrument. Since i want to be in jazz band I narrowed it down to alto sax and trumpet. Whenever I play my clarinet people say I sound like a sax type, but the position of the mouthpiece seems pretty uncomfortable. I want to play trumpet because I love the sound of many fanfares. I also have to be good at the instrument to stand a chance in making jazz band which doesn't accept clarinets ;P. Thank You in advance!!!...Show more

Renita Sefton: watch movies like "The Great Gatsby" & "Chicago" that might give you some kind of idea.

Danyell Rowback: Switching from clarinet to alto saxophone is a more 'natural' or common change than the trumpet. The type of mouthpiece you use is fairly similar however the position is slightly different, something that you can adjust to quite quickly. I play both clarinet and saxophone and am now quite comfortable at changing between them.I would s! uggest you go for alto sax as your experience on clarinet will help you! be better on it in a shorter space of time and enable you to make jazz band. Getting to a good standard on the trumpet may take you a bit longer depending on how much you practice....Show more

Barrett Alosa: That depends on what you're going to do. During the 1920's in the U.S. prohibition was in place for most of that decade. So you're either going to have one of two types of party's. One with or without alcohol. If you're going with alcohol, then more than likely your party will be held in what was called a "Speakeasy". That was a club where alcohol was served and usual required membership or you knowingsomeone that wasalrady known there. If that was the environment, then your entertainment morethan like was a small jazz combo and they probably featured a singer. Moret han ikely this bandwas made up of African Americans. This psarty would more than likely last well into the night. If you're entertaining without alcohol, then more than likely your party will b! e held in your home. Probably in the afternoon/early evening, featuring finger food and the entertainment might be someone playing the piano or something like that. Hope this helps.N...Show more

Coleman Deliberato: booze and sex my man lol! :)

Soraya Coodey: i wish i can do the same

Lyndon Mattas: Yes

Filiberto Ranalli: I ask this because I want to buy a CD of his. Please don't choose an obscure record because I'm looking for it at Border's which won't have all of his CD's. Also I'm new to Parker so if you recommend a CD, keep in mind this will be my first impression of him. Thanks
