Gwenda Micheals: It's common both ways. Well, depends what you mean by "common". Truly brilliant people are rare, of course. But among truly brilliant people, some are brilliant at one and only one thing, and some are brilliant at almost anything they touch.I'm not brilliant. But I'm a good violinist and pianist and a good writer...and absolutely rubbish at drawing and dancing. I'd have to say that most of the musicians I know _are_ talented at drawing and dancing, and I'm the exception....Show more
Jonie Lauria: Yes, it is. Me and my two sisters live for the arts. All three of us can draw and dance. Also, one of them also plays more than one instrument, as do I.
Alane Antes: I just listen to great lives sammy davis junior who was multi talented and unfortunately categorised in this way so he didn't get to be recognised fully in any one field even though he was very good at singing being a comedian, natural dancer etc. his name doesnt come up . I am multi ta! lented and sometimes I envy those who are more singular as their focus seems more intense - I think its more healing to use all the senses for expressivity
Ariel Arons: It's not very common, but not extremely exceptional, either. I can't draw to save my life, but I play several musical instruments, I write music (I won a few music competitions), I write poetry (been published and named "a new poet"), write prose successfully (science fiction, main stream, humor), epigrams, I practiced martial arts and got almost all my belts in just 18 months, vice-national champion at 800 meters when in high-school, I am good with guns (I was in the army) etc. I could go on for more minutes, but I have already bragged enough. Usually, when a person has a talent, that person possesses more than that particular talent because arts are related, sports are related (up to a certain point, of course), sciences are related etc. Talent is a thing that comes in a package and we are given the ! whole package. On the other hand, he who has many talents is u! sually not exceptionally good in the majority of the things that he/she can do. These persons can be very good at all of them, but they have one in which they can be geniuses. Mine would be writing (including music) and English language (I am not a native speaker and I have never in any of the English-speaking countries....Show more
Jude Colbenson: I think it's rare, but there are people out there who are talented at many art forms. People who are only good at one art form usually got to be that way through a lot of hard work and dediction to their craft, whereas people who are good at multiple art forms are usually a bit more creatively-minded...they tend to think a little different than other people, which makes them more capable of picking up new crafts.Case in point, I taught myself piano and guitar within a few months, was first chair top band throughout high school in my instrument, am a painter (who regularly sells art online and teaches the occasional art clas! s), am a professional writer (as in copywriting/content writing), am an aspiring novelist (got my first novel well underway), was in dance for several years (advanced classes), etc., etc.And I'm only 23 years old, by the way. And yeah, you sound a little cocky, but if you know you're good you know you're good. Hopefully the quality of your work matches your pride ;-)...Show more
